Happy to have earned my CISSP certification once again. Many things have changed since I first earned the cert 24 years ago (not to mention the quality of the plaque – LOL). Back then, I think I had a Blackberry (with an actual button for each letter) when I sat for the exam. You had to have a phone line and a modem (and wait a few minutes) to get access to the internet. Firewalls were the technology of the time – application layer firewalls were just becoming mainstream. BUT, what hasn’t changed? Cybersecurity (or Information Security then) Principles. The test materials I used to prepare for this recent exam were almost identical to the information I learned in the Bootcamp I took those many years ago to prepare for my original test. Technology changes, threats advance. But the security principles remain the same. Learn them, use them, and continue to manage risks as tech continues to advance!
